Mind stories

mind at workThe best story is the one listeners hear in their head on their way home.
It is not for you, the storyteller, to form the listener’s opinion of the story.
It is the other mind that completes the story.
To say: she was the most beautiful person he had ever seen is sufficient to stimulate imagination.
To say: the valley was lush and peaceful in early summer light recalls summers that nestle in the memory.
An evil person may be realised in the way you describe evil; for a battle hardened veteran it will be more extreme than a young audience with limited experience will need.
To drown a narrative with your own view of the world is to smother the story
Each story has a life of its own. Each person sees life in a different way.
The joy of storytelling is that difference that lies within us all.
